One of the most popular anti-virus software application’s out there these days is AVG Anti-Virus. Many of you probably have it installed on your computer and use it for anti-virus protection. Today, Grisoft, the software manufacturer, released it’s newest version of the anti-virus software,AVG 2011, which promises to deliver better results and increase performance.
The software features several improvments, including a faster install, and smart scanning technology, which allows it to scan certain files once and if not infected, it will skip over them the next scan, unless there has been a change in the file. This creates a huge boost in performance, because it doesn’t have to scan EVERY file on your computer for viruses, but instead, just the files that are modified after it does the first original scan. Because of this, you’ll notice your virus scanning times will dramatically decrease.
One of the best features it has is also protection against threats that happen over social media (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, ect). These threats seem to be hitting our clients like crazy, so we’re hoping that this newest release of AVG will help eliminate some of the security flaws of social media and prevent viruses, spyware and malware from infecting PCs.
Let us know what you think of the new AVG 2011 and any features you like or dislike.

On Tuesday, September 21, 2010, Jason McAninch, President of J-TEK, presented TLC, also known as Temporary Living Center based out of Olathe, Kansas the winning proceeds from the KC Top 30 Under 30 event that took place September 10th at LUNA in Kansas City, Missouri.
McAninch was the first-prize winner of the 30 Under 30 event, so the evenings proceeds went to his charity of choice, which was TLC.
When asked why McAninch chose TLC as his charity, he said “They do a lot of good for our community that I think goes unnoticed to many, because of the stereotype that people have towards Johnson County families. It seems like everyone has this notion that everyone in Johnson County is extremely wealthy and that they never have struggles or are faced with horrifying circumstances in life, which is unfortunately not the case.”
McAninch was able to tour the facility and meet with several children and young adults that are being helped by this great organization. The organization gives children a second chance when they otherwise would not have one. “Kids can’t choose who their parents are or who raises them, and these kids are abused, neglected in ways that most of us can’t even imagine” McAninch said.
TLC focuses it’s efforts on helping children who are homeless or in crisis in the Johnson County area by providing emergency shelter for abused and neglected children from infancy until age 18. They also have programs in place that allow for youth that are age 18 or higher to have opportunities to learn how to survive and thrive in the real world by offering them an apartment-like living space, where they have to learn how to get an education, apply for employment, open and maintain a checking and savings account, cook, clean and all the other aspects that go along with adulthood, so they can become productive members of society.
“It’s a cause I am happy to support – there shouldn’t be any children that are homeless, abused or neglected, and TLC is really making a difference in helping the children that are unfortunate to be in that situation” McAninch said.

McAninch is known in the community for his philanthropic acts. In January of this year, he started the J-TEK Foundation (www.jtekfoundation.org) which is currently building scholarship funds to award area students for their interest in entrepreneurship and/or technology.Share on Facebook
